BOTANICAL ESCAPE
ARTIST: Raqui Washington
Location: 34 Powder Springs St
About the Artist: For me, art lives in the details — like fine dining, a meticulously plated meal meant to be savored. I value the moment when someone steps up to one of my murals and discovers that everything holds up: the clean lines, intentional color choices, and subtle elements that quietly command attention. Whether experienced from across the street or inches away, my work is designed to reward curiosity and invite prolonged engagement. Animals and human figures are central to my practice because they carry organic texture, emotion, and presence. I blend realism with abstract or surreal elements to create imagery that feels both familiar and slightly unexpected — compositions that capture attention while leaving space for interpretation.
Working primarily with acrylic and latex on diverse surfaces has strengthened my efficiency and confidence in large-scale environments. I approach every mural with precision, thoughtful color theory, and strong composition, ensuring each piece becomes a lasting visual statement that enhances and energizes the space it inhabits.
